Three Oaks Township Regular Meeting February 11, 2008 Present: Sittig, Cummings, LaLone, Osburn Absent: Jelinek Regular meeting opened at 7:00 No Public comments. Motion by LaLone supported by Osburn to accept the minutes of January 14th meeting. Motion carried. Treasurer's report stands as read. Motion by Sittig supported by LaLone to pay Township bills totaling $32927.16 Motion carried. Correspondence was read. Department reports: Ambulance: 32 Assessor: Sales/Splits 3/1 (still under review) Building/ Mechanical: 2/3 Fire: 5 Chief Flick gave the report on the building upgrade specs and also reported that they have put 3 firefighters on the dept., he stated that there is a Mutual Aid Agreement with the county that would need to be signed and that the plaques for the retired firefighters will be purchased by next month. Motion by Sittig supported by LaLone to hire Steve Gross, Scott Scalf after all qualifications are met and to reinstate Paul Kacmar. Motion carried. Motion by Sittig supported by Osburn to authorize Sittig, Osburn, Cummings of Flick to sign the Mutual Aid Agreement. Motion carried Clerk Cummings received a quote from PCS for the new computer at the Fire Station for $1328.57. Motion by Cummings supported by LaLone not to exceed $1000.00 on the new computer. Motion carried Parks & Recreation- Park Ordinance will be completed in March Planning: Members of the Planning Commission are reviewing copies of the draft ordinance Police: Complaints/Citations: 74/14 Industrial Park- Roger Zilke will attend the March meeting to explain the changes and answer questions on the Schwark Drain Bill Farhat, President of the River Valley School Board was present along with other board members and school superintendent. He explained to the board their plans for the new elementary school and why they needed to know if the Township would relinquish the property now used by the school. Motion by Cummings supported by Osburn to transfer the Township property on Oak Street owned by the Township to the River Valley School District on the contingency the milleage passes to build a new elementary school. Roll call Ayes: Sittig, LaLone, Cummings, Osburn Nays: None Motion carried The Village DDA has stated that they will pay up to $40,000.00 to pave the parking lot (which is located behind the township hall) and maintain it and is asking the township to pay the remaining balance. Motion by Sittig supported by Osburn to accept the proposal from the Village DDA to pay the excess of the $40,000.00 in return the Township get a designated number of parking spaces for Township business. Roll call Ayes: Sittig, LaLone, Cummings, Osburn Members received copies of the 2008/ 2009 budget for review. Clerk will check into pricing of programs for Cemetery Management and return quotes at March meeting The Three Oaks Township Library wishes to place a proposal on the May 6th ballot for a 1.5 milleage. Motion by Sittig supported by Cummings to authorize the proposal to be placed on the ballot. Motion carried The Police 4 year contract is ending April1, according to the terms of the contract unless notified of a change it will continue on a yearly basis at a 5% increase annually. At the January meeting it was passed to extend the tax deadline to February 28th which the date should have been the 29th. No Final Public Comments.
