⚠️ Why Was the Original Notice Incorrect?
The previously published public notice and Facebook post stating a 3.0602 mill increase and a 473.20% revenue jump contained severe administrative and calculation errors made by the assessing department.
- Voter-Approved Millages Were Miscounted: Special services (Fire, Ambulance, Library) were wrongly lumped into a general operating tax calculation. Under Michigan law, voter-approved millages are 100% exempt from Truth in Taxation hearing limits.
- The True Operating Adjustment: The only tax rate subject to a public hearing is the general Allocated Operating millage.
- Meeting Status: The October 12, 2026 hearing is POSTPONED/TABLED to allow for lawful notice publication and verified math.
